Boston Beer Company
Jim Koch founded the Boston Beer Company back in 1984 after brewing the first batch of Samuel Adams Boston Lager in his kitchen. It was his mission to reshape the way American beer drinkers thought of American beer. Just six weeks after introducing Samuel Adams Boston Lager to the public, it brought home the "Best Beer in America" honors at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. An honor it went on to win 3 more times before that particular award was discontinued. Today, Samuel Adams makes more than 21 styles of award winning beer and is recognized around the globe as a hot house of new beer ideas. If you share our passion, join us here as a fan! Cheers! Great free tours! Very cool atmosphere at the brewery and so nice of them to offer free tours. Went with my wife and 11 year old daughter so it is kid friendly. They had root beer for the kids and generous 3 full 10 ounce samples at the end of the tour. Decently interactive tour with lots of information. The tour itself lasted about 30 minutes and another 30 minutes in the tasting room afterwards showing us the 3 sample beers. Overall I would recommend it for anyone including families.
2017-9: Cool spot with great tours! I did the Morning Mash-In tour and it was a blast! Tour guide was funny and informative, annnd I got to try lots of great and unique beer at the end of the tour. Nice indoor and outdoor seating. 2018-5: came back to do the same tour again with my Dad. We both loved it. Totally worth the visit!
The price was right as the tour is free. The brewery tour was average. I have been on others that were a lot more informative. I would like to know more about the Sam Adams story. The beer sampling was enjoyable. I like their pale Ales a lot. Cathy was a good tour person.
Went to the tap room. Many different kinds do of beers to select from. Will be going on the tour, as I missed the last tour of the day at 30m on a Tuesday. I'll catch the Tour Saturday. Nice gift shop. Have indoor stable shuffleboard, outdoor cornhole, and another outdoor game. Only wish they had some snacks.
The free tours are quick and they offer a hefty tasting after plus you get to keep the glass. They run a limited production out of this main location. You only get to see the one building so I’m curious what goes on in the others on site. The gift shop is small but with a decent selection of standard priced apparel. The tasting room is modern and offers a ton of beers but was rather crowded (could be because the World Cup was on or rainy type weather outside). We hung out outside in their beer garden which also got pretty packed. This place is a must if you’re visiting the area.
FREE TOUR, FREE BEER, FREE GLASS SOUVENIR. Enough said. There was a cute outdoor market in the parking lot with lots of dogs wandering around! Our tour...
Samuel Adams Boston Lager
Lager - Vienna
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoration mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

This truly unique brew takes two active fermentations and blends them together to create a deliciously harmonious result. This process delivers a distinct flavor that showcases the slight fruitiness of an ale with the balanced drinkability and smoothness of a lager. Cascade, Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and Galaxy hops impart a tropical citrus aroma that gives way to a bright, juicy citrus hop flavor but without the hop bitterness.
