The ultimate New York brewery, born and raised. A true family brewery! Totally a DIY brewery. Its all about great beer and family here. Nothing pretentious or high brow. Just great beers with a great respect for the neighborhood that its brewed in.

a small, quirky place with a sense of humor. for example, i could not bring myself to try the cheekily named newton creek oyster stout. there's also all sorts of dive bar style decor: antlers, boxing belts, a colorful bar. there's plenty of board games, and the owners are very chatty and friendly , so you feel like you are at someone's backyard barbecue. the beers are well-executed, with lots of styles to pick from, and there's always about 12 taps, which is remarkable given the small brewing rig.

Amazing, friendly, local, neighborhood brewery. Very personable and relaxing. Great beers. Focus on ales. No lagers. Specialists in the darker ales and historic ales.

This place reminds me of the microbreweries of the late 90's. Middle of the block deep inside Queens/Brooklyn border of Ridgewood & Bushwick. Small place with a few tables, Centapeed video game in front of the beer tanks. Connect 4 on each table and brewdog at the bar. A wide range of beer styles, fresh local pretzels for grub and 12 seats at the bar. The prices for 16 10, and 6 pints are as Crazy Eddy would say "are insane!!!!" Friendly affable British bartender makes this my new favorite spot. Cans growlers and apparel pos available too. Not far from Jackie Robinson Pkwy/Interborough.

Nice selection of beer. Friendly vibe. It is a local gem I can recommend you try out.

Great beer great atmosphere Great games Recommend to anyone Fear city barley wine is my fav!

Twenty Spot And A Switchblade

Cream Ale

Coffee cream ale brewed especially for The Queens Kickshaw's 3rd anniversary. The beer name is a reference to a story that Kickshaw co-owner Ben Sandler tells of his experience growing up in Long Island City. When Ben was a kid attending grammar school in Queens, his dad would send him to school with a switchblade in one pocket, and a twenty-dollar bill in the other, and basically leave it up to him to decide whether or not he wanted to throw the twenty bucks down or carve his attackers up like a Thanksgiving turkey.

1642 Mespeatches - Recipe from colonial ingredients.

Spiced / Herbed Beer

In 1642, the first Dutch Colonists came to Queens (present day Maspeth). But within that first year, they got their asses kicked, then booted out (back to Manhattan Island) by the Mespeatches Native American tribe (origins of the name 'Maspeth'). This beer is a recipe using ingredients that those first Dutch colonists would have had access to in 1642. Barley and Cluster hops were available at the time but often in short supply, so to supplement a recipe, colonial brewers used corn, rye, wheat, oats, buckwheat, and honey in their grain bills. To supplement bittering hops if in short supply, spruce tips would be used. All above ingredies are included in this recipe. The rsult is a balanced, sessiony ale - slightly cloudy (from the wheat), slightly earthy and bitter (from the spruce addition) - with a story to ponder... Sort of the 'b' side version of the story of Thanksgiving. Call it a colonial pale, old fashioned ale, a gruit, or whatever category you think fits.
